Courageous Humility is about using the gifts and talents you have to serve others. It takes courage to trust others to do their jobs, and takes humility to be willing to put their needs before your own.
I’ve been blessed to speak and teach about leadership at a wide variety of events and locations including conferences (Military Order of World Wars—Youth Leadership Conference, 2018 and 2019), colleges and universities (Duke University TIP Institute, Jacksonville State University, University of Montevallo), corporate retreats (Diehl Aerospace), fundraisers (Calhoun County’s Community Enabler “Bosses Busing Tables” luncheon), and more!
PRESENTATIONS OFFERED:
VIRTUES AND VICES: COURAGEOUS HUMILITY AND THE 3 C'S
Aristotle wrote, "Both virtues and vices are developed through repetition," and so consistency is the key to all good leadership. In this presentation, audience members will learn about three keys to leadership that, when applied consistently, will transform your team from good to great: collaborate, communicate, and cogitate.
VICTIM OR VICTOR: YOUR STORY IS YOUR POWER
"All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us." So said Tolkien, in one of the greatest stories ever told. In this leadership presentation, audience members will learn about the importance of how we tell our own stories, to ourselves and to others. Our successes and failures, and how we view them and share them, shape our ability to lead others. Key teachings include the power of hope, the necessity of courage, and the importance of empathy.
INVERTED AND EXTRAORDINARY: LEAD OTHERS BETTER BY FORGETTING ABOUT YOURSELF
"Be the change you want to see in the world." Gandhi teaches us the power of example, by leading humbly and through service, putting the needs of others in front of your own. This presentation will also teach audiences about three key aspects to consider when shaping their own leadership philosophies: lead where you are, be the first, and lead through learning. This presentation also incorporates much of my personal story as I share lessons from the classroom, the home, and the soccer field.
OBSTACLES OR OPPORTUNITIES: OVERCOMING ADVERSITY BY LEADING WITH PERSEVERANCE AND COURAGE Every leader will encounter obstacles, and what separates good leaders from bad leaders is how they handle adversity. When you encounter a roadblock, do you view it as an obstacle to your success, or as an opportunity for growth? As always, through a combination of story-telling and humor, in this presentation audiences will learn about how to re-frame their understanding of potential adversity and how to harness the power of struggle to help them grow in leadership.
